The Ministry oversees skill development efforts nationwide, ensuring a match between skilled workforce supply and demand, enhancing vocational and technical training, and fostering innovation for both current and future jobs. Its goal is to skill a large number of people quickly and to high standards, aiming for a ‘Skilled India’.

It collaborates with various bodies like the Directorate General of Training, National Council for Vocational Education and Training, National Skill Development Corporation, Sector Skill Councils, and training institutes to achieve this goal. Additionally, partnerships with central and state governments, international organizations, industry, and NGOs help ensure effective skill development implementation.

Registration on Skills India Digital Portal : www.skillindiadigital.gov.in Home

  1. Visit the Skill India Digital Portal website – skillindiadigital.gov.in
  2. Look for the “Register” option for new users.
  3. Click on “Register” to begin the registration process.
  4. Fill in the required information such as name, email address, mobile number, etc.
  5. Verify your mobile number by entering the OTP (One-Time Password) sent to your registered mobile number.
  6. Set up your account password or PIN. This will be used for accessing the portal.
  7. Enter your Aadhaar Card details for e-KYC (Know Your Customer) verification.
  8. Mark the checkbox to agree to the terms and conditions.
  9. Submit the registration form.

Login on Skills India Digital Portal :

  1. Visit the Skill India Digital Portal website again –skillindiadigital.gov.in
  2. Look for the “Login” option for existing users.
  3. Click on “Login” and enter your registered mobile number or email address.
  4. Enter the password or PIN you set up during the registration process.
  5. Click on the “Login” button to access your account.
  6. If prompted, enter any additional authentication details such as OTP.

  2. Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana 2.0 (PMKVY 2.0) :

    • Functions : Implements skill training programs through approved training centers, assesses and certifies candidates based on national occupational standards.
  3. Pm Kaushal Vikas Yojana 3.0 (PMKVY 3.0) :

    • Aim : To enhance the employability of youth by providing them with skill development training.
    • Functions : Focuses on sectors like healthcare, agriculture, tourism, and hospitality, offers placement assistance, and encourages self-employment through entrepreneurship programs.
  4. Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Kendras (PMKK) :

    • Aim : To establish state-of-the-art skill training centers across India.
    • Functions : Offers industry-relevant skill development programs, provides counseling and career guidance, facilitates job placement, and encourages entrepreneurship.
  5. Jan Shikshan Sansthan (JSS):

    • Aim : To provide vocational training to non-literate, neo-literate, and school dropouts.
    • Functions : Offers skill training in traditional and modern trades, promotes adult education, fosters self-employment, and encourages lifelong learning.

Candidate Registration & Enrollment Process on Skill India Digital Portal (SID)

1. Register/Login :

  • Visit skillindiadigital.gov.in
  • Click on “Register” for new users, or login if already registered.

2. OTP Verification :

  • Enter the OTP sent to your registered mobile number.
  • Set an account password/PIN for portal access.

3. Aadhaar Verification :

  • Enter Aadhaar card details for e-KYC verification.
  • Mark the checkbox before submitting the details.
  • Verify OTP sent to Aadhaar linked mobile number.

4. Home Dashboard :

  • Upon successful verification, you’ll be directed to the Home Dashboard.
  • Click on “My Dashboard” under the Name tab to view available skill courses.

5. Select Scheme :

  • Click on “PMKVY 4.0” to explore schemes under it.
  • Use the search box to find specific schemes or sectors.

6. Apply for Scheme :

  • Click on “Apply” for the desired scheme based on requirements.
  • Details of the scheme and job roles will be visible for application.

7. Batch Selection :

  • Information about batches, including Batch ID, location, and training center details, will be displayed.
  • Select up to 5 batches of interest.
  • Click on “Show Interest” after selecting batches.

8. Personal Details :

  • Fill in all necessary personal details in the provided form.
  • Note that certain details like Name, Date of Birth, Religion, and Mobile Number are not editable.

9. Submit Interest :

  • After filling all mandatory fields, submit the form.
  • Your interest in the selected batches will be recorded.

10. Application Review :

  • View details of your interest under “My Dashboard” >> “Applications.”
  • Pending requests will be displayed.

11. TC Approval :

  • Training Centers (TC) will review and approve requests from their dashboard.
  • Approved requests will move to the “Approved” section.

12. Candidate Acceptance :

  • Once approved, candidates can view the status under “My Dashboard” >> “Applications” >> “Approved” section.
  • Candidates need to accept the invite for enrollment.

13. Enrollment Confirmation :

  • Upon acceptance by the candidate, the request will be moved to the “Accepted” section under “My Dashboard” >> “Applications.”
  • The enrollment process is complete, and candidates can proceed with their selected batches.

What is India Skills ?

  • India has a rich tradition of artistic and culinary skills, along with a growing expertise in IT-related fields post globalization.
  • IndiaSkills competitions aim to showcase the country’s skill excellence globally, starting from local levels and leading up to international competitions like WorldSkills.

Aims and Objectives :

  • Establish a transparent system to prepare talented Indian youth for WorldSkills Competitions.
  • Promote knowledge and awareness about India Skills and World Skills competitions across the country.
  • Revive local/domestic skill sets like pottery, embroidery, painting, etc.
  • Encourage Indian youth to harness their skills and make skill development aspirational and rewarding.
  • Decentralize skill development by involving states in the process.
  • Provide financial support to states for implementing skill development projects.
  • Build infrastructure and capacity for organizing skill competitions.

Selection Process :

  • Competitors register through online portals (state or national) to participate in IndiaSkills Competitions.
  • Selection conducted by state governments, sector skill councils, academic & industry partners at district, zone, and state levels.
  • State champions compete in regional competitions organized by IndiaSkills in collaboration with sector skill councils, corporate, and academic partners.
  • Regional competition winners showcase their skills at IndiaSkills National competitions.

What is World Skills Competition ?

  • The WorldSkills Competition is the largest skill competition globally, held biennially in one of the member countries of WorldSkills International (WSI).
  • It serves as a benchmark for vocational excellence and promotes world-class standards in over 50 skills across six skill strands.

Competition Format :

  • More than 1000 contestants under 23 years old compete over four days, working on test projects based on industry standards.
  • Each competition spans 16-22 hours and is equivalent to the Olympic Games for skills among youth worldwide.

Support Structure :

  • Each competitor is supported by an expert trainer and a partner, which could be a corporate entity or a training institution.

WorldSkills Competition :

  • The 46th WorldSkills Competition was held from September to November 2022 across Europe, North America, and East Asia.
  • It featured over 1,000 competitors from 58 countries participating in 61 skills, hosted by 15 countries in more than 20 cities.

WorldSkills India Participation :

  • India participated in 50 skills with 56 competitors and 50 experts, with a 19% female representation.
  • Six skills were team-based, including Robot System Integration, Industry 4.0, Cyber Security, Mobile Robotics, Mechatronics, and Concrete Construction Works.
  • India also competed in six new future skills, including Industry 4.0, Robot System Integration, Additive Manufacturing, Renewable Energy, Mobile Applications Development, and Digital Construction.
