GPF, or General Provident Fund, is a savings scheme available to government employees in India, facilitated by the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) of India. It is a long-term investment scheme that helps employees save a portion of their salary each month for their future financial needs, particularly after retirement.

Introduction to GPF Services :

i. The office of the Principal Accountant General (A&E) I Maharashtra, Mumbai maintains GPF accounts for approximately 1.30 lakh employees in the Western Maharashtra/Mumbai Region.

ii. Accounts are prefixed with MH and governed by Maharashtra General Provident Fund Rules.

Benefits of GPF :

• GPF offers a secure and disciplined way for government employees to save for their future financial needs.
• The accumulated funds can be used for various purposes, including retirement, education, medical emergencies, or housing loans.
• The interest earned on GPF contributions is typically higher than that of regular savings accounts, helping employees build substantial savings over time.

GPF Account Balance Check :

• Government employees can check their GPF account balance online through authorized portals such as agkar.cag.gov.in, agmaha.cag.gov.in, or www.agmp.nic.in.
• To check the balance, employees need to log in using their GPF account number or other specified credentials.
• Once logged in, they can view their account balance along with other relevant details.

Steps to Check Account Balance :

1. Visit the official website – agmaha.cag.gov.in

2. Click on the GPF: Account Balance Details

3. Enter all the details and view the account balance.

Key Achievements :

• Strategic management and directives from higher authorities have ensured consistent achievement of monthly targets for various tasks including authorization of Final Payment cases, RB cases, and clearing arrears in posting of accounts.
• Implementation of action plans under the guidance of HOD led to significant improvements in clearing Missing Credit and Unposted Credits, achieving 100% success.
• Consistent efforts resulted in marked clearance of outstanding Missing Credits, achieving the target for ‘A’ Grade for the quarter ended March 2021.

Milestones :

1. GPF Module developed as a sub-system of GPF-VLC system, with credit/debit posting fully computerized since the Financial Year 2002-03.
2. In-house module developed for authorizing Final Refund Applications (GEMS – GPF Entitlement Management System) operational since April 2011.
3. GPF posting merged with VLC from August 2008 Accounts.
4. Digitization of GPF Ledger cards.

Provident Fund Management

Provident Fund is maintained by PAG for the following categories of employees :

• Class III, Class II, and Class I including Reemployed
• High Court Judges
• All India Service Officers

PAG does not maintain GPF for the following categories of employees :

• Class IV employees of the State
• Employees of Local Bodies, Municipalities, Panchayat Raj Institutions
• Corporations, Societies, Institutions (Aided), Autonomous bodies
• Employees of State Government appointed on or after 1.09.2004 who are covered by the New Contributory Pension Scheme.

How to Download GPF Slip ?

1. Visit the official website – agmaha.cag.gov.in

2. On the home-screen click on – Online Services

3. Now select the option of – GPF Services

4. Go to – Download the GPF Slip for 2023 -2024.

5. For further state wise download click on the – Download from state-wise portal.

6. Download the pdf and keep for future reference .

Overview of GPF Services :

• PF Group manages and authorizes entitlement benefits for 1,30,078 State Government employees.
• Activities include posting of monthly credits and debits, authorization of Final Withdrawal benefits, issuing Annual GPF Account statements, and resolving subscriber grievances.
• Details are available on the office website, including downloadable GPF slips.
• Public Relations Officer available to address subscriber complaints.
• Implementation of ‘The GPF Seva Patra’ system for contact-less service delivery.
