GATE COAP Counselling 2024 Portal

The GATE counselling for the year 2024 will begin on March 18th 2024 under the supervision of counselling authorities. This is for candidates who have successfully cleared the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering. The students are now eligible to partake in the counselling process. 

The counselling for COAP 2024 will be handled by IIT Kanpur, with registration for IIT GATE Counselling 2024. The comprehensive COAP counselling timetable has been published on the official website.

The GATE exam conducting authority will not conduct centralised GATE 2024 Counselling. Thus the candidates will have to participate in COAP and CCMT counselling 2024 for admissions in the participating institutes. Qualified candidates of GATE 2024 will undergo counselling via two platforms: COAP and CCMT.

• Common Offer Acceptance Portal (COAP) : Conducted for admission to IITs based on GATE 2024 scores
• Centralised Counselling for M.Tech. / M.Arch./ M.Plan (CCMT) : Conducted for admissions to NITs, IIITs, and GFITs.

• COAP, the Common Offer Acceptance Portal, is where participating Institutes/PSUs upload their offers within a set time window.
• Registered candidates can access offers from all participating institutes/PSUs where they’ve applied for M.Tech admissions/jobs.

• COAP registration is free, and its number is required by participating institutes/PSUs for M.Tech applications.

Steps for COAP Registration 2024:

1. Visit the official COAP website  – coap.iitm.ac.in

2. On the homepage, click on – “Registration Now” or “New Registration” 

3. Fill the registration form with all the details carefully. 

4. Complete all academic qualifications – Undergraduate degree and relevant examination scores (such as GATE or equivalent). 

5. Upload scanned documents – copies of necessary documents. 

6. Upon completion of filling – “Submit and Verify” 

7. Fill your preferences of institutes and programs.

8. Submit your choices on the COAP portal to finalise.

NOTE : GATE COAP is the process of admission for the candidates to the postgraduate program (M.Tech, M.Des, M.S., and PhD) 

COAP Registration Eligibility Criteria:

1. Successful Participation in Exams: Candidates must have appeared and qualified in the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE).

2. Possession of Bachelor’s Degree: Candidates MUST hold a bachelor’s degree in the respective field of study from a recognised university.

3. Valid GATE Score or Rank: It is mandatory for candidates to possess a valid GATE score or rank card, as it serves as the primary criteria for shortlisting candidates for admission.

4. Minimum GATE Score/Rank Requirements: Participating institutes may specify minimum GATE score or rank requirements for eligibility.

5. Nationality Requirement: Candidates must be Indian nationals. However, foreign national candidates may be eligible for admission to specific programs under certain conditions.

6. No Age Limit: There is no age restriction for COAP registration, allowing candidates of all age groups to apply.

7. Eligibility for Various Categories: Candidates belonging to categories such as SC/ST/OBC/EWS/PwD are eligible to apply, provided they possess the requisite caste certificate.

Required Documents for GATE Counselling 2024 : 

1. Date of Birth Proof Document.
2. Government-issued photo ID in accordance with the norms of the Government of India.
3. Class XII Mark Sheet.
4. Qualifying Examination Grade/Mark Sheets for all semesters.
5. Degree/Provisional Certificate. In case the result of the qualifying degree is pending, a certificate of course completion from the last institute/university attended must be provided in the format prescribed on the CCMT website.
6. GATE Scorecard (for the years 2022, 2023, or 2024).
7. Category Certificate (SC/ST/OBC-NCL/EWS).
8. Persons with Disabilities (PwD) Certificate, if applicable.

COAP Seat Allotment :

Candidates are offered based on candidate’s preferences and merit ranks in multiple rounds of seat allotment.

Universities Not Considering COAP :

There are some exceptions like IIT Kanpur which will release separate application forms for M.Tech admissions through GATE 2024.
