Jal Jeevan Mission Apply Online

The Jal Jeevan Mission in Assam signifies a important step towards ensuring equal access to clean water and sustainable water resource management across the state. The “Har Ghar Jal” initiative, translating to “Water To Every Household,” was launched by the Ministry of Jal Shakti of the Government of India as part of the Jal Jeevan Mission in 2019. The primary objective is to ensure the regular supply of 55 litres of tap water per capita per day to every rural household by the year 2024, aiming for sustainable access to clean water.

Objectives

  • Provide Functional Tap Connection (FHTC) to every rural household.
  • Prioritize FHTCs in quality-affected areas, drought-prone and desert areas, and Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojana (SAGY) villages.
  • Ensure functional tap connections in Schools, Anganwadi centres, GP buildings, Health centres, wellness centres, and community buildings.
  • Monitor the functionality of tap connections.
  • Promote voluntary ownership among local communities through contributions in cash, kind, or labour, and voluntary labour (shramdaan).
  • Ensure the sustainability of water supply systems, including water sources, infrastructure, and funds for regular O&M.
  • Empower and develop human resources in the sector to meet demands in construction, plumbing, electrical, water quality management, water treatment, catchment protection, O&M, etc.
  • Raise awareness on the importance of safe drinking water and involve stakeholders to make water everyone’s business.

To apply for the Jal Jeevan (Hariyali) Mission in Assam :

i. Visit the official website dedicated to the mission or the relevant government portal.

Components under Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) :

The following components are supported under JJM :

  • Funding Convergence : Efforts should be made to source funds from various sources/programmes with a focus on convergence.
  • Infrastructure Development:
    • Develop in-village piped water supply infrastructure to provide tap water connections to every rural household.
    • Develop reliable drinking water sources and / or augment existing sources to ensure long-term sustainability of the water supply system.
  • Bulk Water Solutions : Implement bulk water transfer, treatment plants, and distribution networks to cater to every rural household, wherever necessary.
  • Technological Interventions : Apply technological interventions for contaminant removal in areas with water quality issues.
  • Scheme Retrofitting : Retrofit completed and ongoing schemes to provide Functional Household Tap Connections (FHTCs) at a minimum service level of 55 litres per capita per day (lpcd).
  • Grey water Management : Manage grey water effectively.
  • Support Activities:
    • Conduct Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) activities.
    • Undertake Human Resource Development (HRD) and training.
    • Develop utilities, water quality laboratories, and conduct water quality testing and surveillance.
    • Engage in research and development (R&D) and establish knowledge centres.
    • Build capacity within communities.
  • Flexi Funds for Unforeseen Challenges : Address any unforeseen challenges /issues emerging due to natural disasters /calamities affecting the goal of providing FHTCs to every household by 2024, as per Ministry of Finance guidelines on Flexi Funds.
