Eligibility Criteria :
Criterion A: Age Limit
- Candidates must have born on or after October 1, 1999.
- Those in countries with mandatory armed forces service may receive a relaxation in age requirement, provided they submit a relevant certificate/testimonial during registration.
Criterion B: Number of Attempts
- Candidates can attempt JEE (Advanced) a maximum of two times in consecutive years.
C Criterion : Appearance in Class XII Examination
- Candidates must have appeared for the Class XII examination for the first time in either 2023 or 2024, with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as compulsory subjects.
- Those who appeared in Class XII examination before 2023 are ineligible, regardless of subjects attempted/offered.
- Relaxation may given for mandatory armed forces service, with submission of relevant certificate/testimonial.
Criterion D: Earlier Admission at IITs
- Candidates should not have admitted to an IIT previously, regardless of whether they continued in the program or accepted a seat.
- Those whose admission was cancelled after joining an IIT are also ineligible.
- Candidates allocated a seat but did not report online, withdrew before the last round, or had their seat cancelled before the last round are eligible, provided they meet Criteria A to C.
Documents Required for Registration :
- Birth certificate as proof of age
- Class XII (or equivalent examination) certificate for those who appeared for the first time in 2023 or whose Board declared the result after September 21, 2022. If the mark sheet for the 2024 examination is available, it must uploaded.
- Identity proof such as Citizenship certificate, Foreign Passport, OCI, or PIO Card where applicable.
- Relevant testimonials as applicable.
Reservation of Seats :
- General category candidates from Economically Weaker Sections (GEN-EWS) are allotted 10% of seats in each course.
- Reservation benefits are applicable only to those General category candidates who meet the conditions outlined in OM No. 20013/01/2018-BC-II dated January 17, 2019 by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment.
- Other Backward Classes (OBC) candidates from the Non-Creamy Layer (OBC-NCL) are allocated 27% of seats in each course.
- Candidates from the creamy layer of OBC are not eligible for reservation and are considered under the general (GEN) category, qualifying only for OPEN seats.
- Scheduled Caste (SC) candidates are provided 15% of seats in each course.
- Scheduled Tribe (ST) candidates are allocated 7.5% of seats in each course.
- Persons with Disability (PwD) with at least 40% impairment are granted 5% of seats in each category, including OPEN, GEN-EWS, OBC-NCL, SC, and ST.
- Candidates with at least 40% impairment, regardless of the disability type (e.g., locomotor, visual, or severe dyslexic), are eligible for PwD sub-category benefits.
Admit cards for JEE (Advanced) 2024 :
- Admit cards for JEE (Advanced) 2024 can downloaded from the online registration portal: jeeadv.ac.in.
- The admit card includes the candidate’s :
- Name
- Roll number for JEE (Advanced) 2024
- Photograph
- Signature
- Date of birth
- Address for correspondence
- Category
- Candidates must bring a printout of the downloaded admit card.
- Additionally, candidates must present an ORIGINAL photo identity card at the examination venue.
- Failure to present the admit card and a valid photo identity card will result in the candidate not being allowed to take the examination.
Performance in Class XII Board Examination for admission to IITs :
- Candidates must meet one of two criteria in their Class XII (or equivalent) Board examination:
- Achieve a minimum of 75% aggregate marks in the examination with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as compulsory subjects.
- Rank within the top 20 percentile of successful candidates in the respective Board examination, with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as compulsory subjects.
- The percentile calculation includes marks from all required subjects in a single academic year.
- Candidates opting for improvement exams must either achieve the 75% aggregate marks after improvement or rank within the top 20 percentile of successful candidates after improvement, considering all subjects.
- The marksheet must issued by the same examination board, and marks from different boards are not accepted.
- Marks from the following five subjects are considered for aggregate marks and percentile calculation:
- Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics
- A language (the one with higher marks if multiple languages)
- Any subject other than the above four (the one with the highest marks)
- Total marks for five subjects are scaled to 100 if not out of 100, ensuring the aggregate marks are out of 500.
- Candidates with letter grades must obtain an equivalent marks certificate from the Board.
- For candidates reappearing in all subjects, the best performance is considered.
- Only Class XII marks are considered, disregarding Class XI or any other prior academic year.
- If a Board does not provide individual subject marks, only the aggregate marks are considered.
- Similar rules apply to candidates who appeared for their Class XII examination in 2022 but had results declared after September 21, 2022.

Cities and Towns for JEE (Advanced) 2024 :
- JEE (Advanced) 2024 will take place in selected cities and towns across India.
- During online registration, candidates must choose eight (8) cities/towns of their preference.
- Efforts will made to allocate a city/town from the candidate’s choices, but exceptions may occur.
- Requests for changing the allocated city/town will not entertained.
- A tentative list of cities/towns where the examination will held is provided.
- The final list, including any centres outside India, will notified on the registration portal before the commencement of online registration for JEE (Advanced) 2024.
