Challenges Of the Lok Sabha Elections 2024 :

The Election Commission has identified four key challenges in ensuring free and fair elections, namely

  • Muscle power,
  • Monetary influence,
  • Misinformation, and
  • Violations of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC).

Upholding voters’ trust is very important, with the EC emphasising the unacceptability of election-related violence and the swift punishment of impersonators. Transparency in granting permissions to parties and candidates via the SUVIDHA portal is also stressed.

Reflecting on past elections, the CEC noted that the last 11 state polls were peaceful, violence-free, and saw near-zero re-polls, with a commitment to further improving the electoral process. To overcome the misuse of money, banks will maintain strict vigilance over illicit online cash transfers and suspicious transactions through payment wallets.
